Honda and Waymo could team up for self-driving Technology





The Google car project, now officially Waymo, an independent subsidiary of Alphabet Inc.’s which is already making effort to streamline its autonomous business venture. Already has announced a formal partnership with Chrysler specifically for use of the Pacifica minivan, but now it has started talking with Japanese automaker Honda, hoping to add more vehicles to its self-driving fleet.

Honda R&D Co., Ltd., the R&D subsidiary of Honda Motor Co., Ltd., announced that it is entering into formal discussions with Waymo, to integrate its self-driving technology with Honda vehicles. This technical collaboration between Honda researchers and Waymo’s self-driving technology team will allow both companies to learn about the integration of fully self-driving sensors, software and computer into Honda vehicles.

If both parties agree to enter into a formal agreement, Honda R&D engineers based in Silicon Valley, California and Tochigi, Japan, would work closely with Waymo engineers based in Mountain View, California and Novi, Michigan, research facilities in development and implementation of the technology for on-road use.

Although Honda made it intention to put production vehicles with automated driving capabilities on highways sometime around 2020 related to its goal of a collision-free society known.
