The racing competition, which was hosted by the School of
Electrical Engineering of the University of Johannesburg and helded at the Zwartkops
Raceway, near Pretoria, South Africa that featured student teams from universities
in South Africa and Nigeria has come to an end with over whelming performance
from Team Nigeria.
Each team raced self-built energy-efficient cars battling
for energy efficiency in Fuel/Petrol, Diesel and Plug-In categories.

With 'Team Uniben 1' of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) winning the 'energy efficiency (Diesel)' category'
award at the Shell Eco-marathon, Africa (SEMA) 2015.
'Team FUPRE' of the Federal University of
Petroleum Resources (FUPRE) emerged the biggest winners of SEMA 2015 after
Securing two awards; the 'TECHNICAL INNOVATION' category in the “OFF-TRACK
AWARDS" and 'energy efficiency (Petrol)' category in the "ON-TRACK
RESULTS AWARDS".
Other Team Nigeria groups, 'Team ABU 1' of the Ahmadu
Bello University (ABU), Zaria, and 'Team UNILAG' of the University of
Lagos (UNILAG), emerged third in the 'energy efficiency (Petrol)'
category' and fifth in the 'energy efficiency (Plug-In)' category respectively.
